Best French restaurant in Montreal

La cocagne on st. Denis serves some of the best French food in Montreal! The duck was the highlight of the evening as it was done really well. Most places over cook the duck and it gets to dry and chewy. This one was full of flavor, soft, moist and just tender enough to dismantle as soon as it was chewed on. The best appetizer was the venetian ravioli which again was packed with flavor and the ravioli was immersed in a balsamic vinegar sauce which complement the meat really well.
The fish was also tender and not too oily.
The decor was not as impressive as the food , it lacked interest and I couldn't see whether they were going for a contemporary look or a bistro feel . That being said, the top food quality, excellent taste and price more than make up for the ordinary setting - hands down my favorite french restaurant in the city!
